Our Story

Steady guidance for families in transition

Sejahtera was founded on the belief that legal support during family change should be calm, clear, and genuinely human.

Who We Are

Built around families, not files

Sejahtera began with a straightforward observation: most people navigating separation or custody matters do not need to be rushed. They need time to think, reliable information, and someone who will explain things without jargon or pressure.

We opened our doors at Menara KEN TTDI in Kuala Lumpur to be genuinely accessible to families across the Klang Valley. Our team works with matters under both civil family law and the Islamic Family Law enactments that apply to Muslim families in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Over time, we have shaped our services around three recurring needs — an initial consultation to find clarity, a structured engagement for custody and maintenance, and a full arrangement for households managing several matters simultaneously. Each service is priced clearly so families can plan without uncertainty.

What guides us

  • Families first

Every decision we support involves real people and real relationships. We keep that in focus throughout.

  • Clarity over complexity

Legal processes are complicated enough. We communicate in plain language and avoid unnecessary formality.

  • Discretion without exception

Confidentiality is not a feature we offer — it is simply how we work, without exception.

  • Children's wellbeing at the centre

Where children are involved, their stability and interests shape how we approach every aspect of the matter.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

Bar Council Membership

All advocates and solicitors at Sejahtera are members in good standing of the Malaysian Bar, bound by the Legal Profession Act 1976.

Solicitor-Client Privilege

Everything disclosed during sessions is protected under solicitor-client privilege. This is a legal obligation, not simply a policy choice.

Personal Data Protection

We handle all personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Client records are stored securely and not shared without authorisation.

Syariah Court Accreditation

Nur Ain binti Khalid holds accreditation to appear before the Syariah High Court of the Federal Territories for family matters including talak, fasakh, hadhanah, and nafkah.

Clear engagement terms

Before any work begins, clients receive a clear letter of engagement setting out scope, fees, and expected timeline. No ambiguity about what is included.

Regular progress communication

Clients are kept updated at every meaningful stage. We do not wait to be chased — communication is a professional responsibility.

Family law support in Kuala Lumpur — what that means in practice

Family law matters in Malaysia can be handled under the civil courts (for non-Muslims under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976) or the Syariah court system (for Muslims under the Islamic Family Law Federal Territories Act 1984 and the equivalent Selangor enactment). Understanding which jurisdiction applies, and how to navigate it, is often the first thing families need clarity on.

Sejahtera's team is experienced in both frameworks. This matters because mixed-jurisdiction questions — for example, involving maintenance across community lines, or situations where parties disagree about which court should hear a matter — require knowledge of how both systems work and how they sometimes interact.

Beyond the legal framework, what families often need most is someone who will slow things down rather than speed them up. Family court proceedings, if managed thoughtfully, can sometimes be kept out of contested hearings entirely. Agreed parenting arrangements and maintenance terms that both parties can live with tend to produce better outcomes for children and for families overall. Sejahtera works with that goal in mind from the first conversation.

Our office at Menara KEN TTDI in Taman Tun Dr Ismail is accessible from across Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. Sessions can also be arranged remotely for clients who prefer that option.
